Dear Judy,
I am NOT greedy and I’m not interested in any other woman. I’m starting off this way because otherwise you might have suspicions.
My father married twice. Divorced my mother, remarried, then died. Wife No. 2 got pretty much everything, and spends it like crazy. She bought a house at the beach here in North Carolina over the summer and paid way too much, given the economy.
She keeps inviting me over at odd times: 7 pm when I’m having dinner with my wife and son. Once at 11 pm. My wife thinks she’s trying to seduce me — I think she’s looking for free labor: she’s asked me for legal advice on 3 occasions because I went to law school although I never finished, and once needed help moving some boxes with my father’s stuff from a closet and out onto the street (Goodwill was coming to collect it).
Should I keep on being available when she calls? Should I talk to her about her spending habits? She was never this interested in seeing me when my father was alive.
Leon
Dear Leon,
11 PM phone calls? For legal advice? From a non-lawyer?
Think about it.
Thank you for writing
Judy
