Dear Judy,
How dare you give unsolicited advice! I saw what you wrote yesterday to someone named “Cal” (an invented name, I’m sure) about his stepkids and the antiques he was left by the mother.
Well that was my mother and those antiques of hers should have been mine. She said it about a million times while she was alive and she knew her latest husband didn’t like the stuff anyway.
In her last years, her mind was pretty foggy, in my opinion — and my brother’s. And the man she married took advantage of her condition which is how come the estate went almost entirely to him.
So you had no business meddling!
Clara
Dear Clara,
You are right in one instance. I never use a reader’s real name.
As for the rest: I have no idea whether the stepfather who inherited all those antiques is in any way related to you. But I do know that if you really think he used “undue influence” on a failing mind, then you have the perfect right to go to court and see what a judge thinks.
For the rest: A) The advice wasn’t unsolicited. Someone actually asked my opinion.
And B) I generally side with the wishes of the dead.
After all, someone needs to.
Thank you for writing
Judy
