Dear Judy,
Everyone in my neighborhood knows that the husband of a certain woman kept a mistress, if that isn’t too old-fashioned a word these days.
He died some months ago, not in her arms or anything (on a business trip in North Carolina, actually) and the girlfriend got a condo in his will, and also some regular income. So we all know the wife knows about her.
When would be a good time to bring up the subject. We’ve all been round to this woman’s house, and brought things, and said how sorry we were about her husband and how great a man he was. But it’s getting ridiculous and I feel hypocritical.
Isn’t it time to broach the subject of his flaws frankly and openly to the widow, so she can feel comfortable opening up to her friends?
Callie
Dear Callie,
No.
Thank you for writing
Judy
