This seems to be the week that everyone’s writing in about their pet dying (must be a pet-plague…) Tom, who lives in Washington DC, wanted to add his elderly dog experience at Pet Smart.
“We went away for a week, so we had to find Benedict, our old mutt, a place to board. As usual, we put him in Pet Smart. On Saturday morning we received a call from the store: Benedict had found a way to escape from his cage. He was always escaping (we never could open the front door wider than a crack for that very reason!), so we weren’t surprised. But there was more.
“Apparently, Benedict started running all around the store, dashing between customers and outrunning the vet. Before anyone could catch him, he suffered a cardiac arrest and died. Pet Smart refunded us the cost of boarding the dog, as well as the vet bills. And we received a sympathy card from the store just days later. We thought: hey it’s sad our dog died, but at least the store acted really human!”
