    No One Cares Any More

    Dear Judy,
I lost my longtime live-in friend a year ago, almost exactly. He had pancreatic cancer and that was that.
In the beginning, friends would call all the time, asking me over to their place or dropping in for a visit. I felt loved, even though I had lost the person I loved most in the world.
    Then [...]

Stomach Cancer: Friend I Can’t Stomach

    Dear Judy,
I have stomach cancer, and am not expected to continue much longer. I have a good friend who keeps texting me: every bit of crap (he calls it “information” or “the latest”) there is on stomach cancer.

I Am NOT an Answering Machine

    Dear Judy,
My girlfriend has been in an out of the hospital for over 2 years (she has a brain tumor that shrinks, and then grows back). I work for a living, but I am also obviously at her side a good deal, and when I’m not — when I’m at our apartment, trying to catch [...]

My Friends are Deserting Me! Why?

    Dear Judy,
I don’t want to go into details (too depressing) but I am seriously ill. Very seriously.  Ever since I revealed the news to a number of friends, they’ve been avoiding me. Not all my friends, but a good number. It’s like I’m contagious — which I am not.
Don’t these friends realize I need them [...]
